2000 Tartan 3700
Tartans compare favorably with the best US and European builds (think Sabre, Hallberg-Rassy or Moody) and the award-winning (Best Midsize Cruiser from Cruising World and Top 10 Boats 2000 from Sail magazine) Tartan 3700 was, not surprisingly, one of their most successful models: it's a beautifully penned and executed luxury performance cruiser with the interior space of many 40 footers, and quite frankly is one of my favorite sailboats ever.
Late model Tartans are rare on the brokerage market, especially here on the west coast, and this particular professionally maintained dark, dark blue-hulled deep draft beauty shows practically AS NEW inside and out; the pictures posted here were just taken but don't do her justice--this vessel really must be seen to be appreciated.
Note flawless solid cherry joinery and gleaming brightwork, new electronics (including Raymarine Evolution autopilot on Whitlock rack and pinion steering system) and standing rigging in 2018, just hauled and bottom painted in July of this year, custom Iverson dodger (2015), full batten Hood mainsail with Dutchman system, very low time (only 840 hours) on 40 hp Yanmar diesel with standard shaft drive (the later 3700s had potentially problematic saildrives).
Also note that she's lying in a potentially transferable downtown Sausalito Yacht Harbor slip; there's a long wait to get a berth in the marina here so this is a material benefit if you're able to take advantage...

FRP hull is NPG-ISO gelcoated with a back-up of vinylester resin and a hand laminated sandwich core of unidirectional "E" glass and balsa. High-stress components such as engine beds, mast step, shroud anchors and hull backbone are solidly laminated and structurally bonded to the hull skin with fiberglass taping for assured strength and firmness. Topside, she has a well-balanced composite of Baltek balsa core and glass sandwiched for stiffness. On deck, the balsa is omitted at each hardware installation point, allowing each piece to be supported by solid glass and aluminum backing plates.
External lead ballast keel, note this is the deep draft version, preferable for the Bay.
Practical Sailor's description of the hull: "The hulls are hand laid-up solid fiberglass below the waterline and Baltek balsa cored above the waterline and in the deck. Alternating layers of strand mat and unidirectional E glass make up the laminate and are vacuum-bagged. “Windows” where deck hardware and stanchions will be installed are solid fiberglass. Isophtalic polyester and vinylester resins are used to help prevent blistering.
Rather than using fiberglass pans and liners, bulkheads are constructed of pressure laminate and tabbed to the hull with mat and roving, as is the floor grid. We think this is a superior way to build boats; Tartan is one of the few production builders left to use built-up wood interiors. All semi-custom and custom builders like Hinckley, Morris and Alden do, too.
The hull-deck joint follows the company’s 20-plus-year practice of bedding the seam with 3M 5200 and fastening with stainless steel bolts through pre drilled holes in an aluminum bar laid between the hull and deck."
